UAE & Thailand Explore Bilateral Labour Co-operation

His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, received His Excellency Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the UAE. The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation on labour and employment.

During the meeting, they reviewed the results of the UAE-Thailand meeting that was recently held to enhance the recruitment of Thai workforce in the UAE and clarify the roles and responsibilities of recruitment agencies, as well as the types of work permits available in the UAE.

During the meeting, the legislative framework that regulates the UAE job market was reviewed, which enhances the protection of the rights of both parties – employers and employees. The meeting also discussed the outcomes of the meeting between Asian labour-sending countries and the GCC labour-receiving countries on the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2023.

The meeting was attended by Her Excellency Shayma Al Awadhi, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for Communication and International Relations at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and Balida Roamkham, Labour Attache at the Royal Thai Embassy in the UAE.
