A Neuro-Inclusive Approach Delivers Big Results Across Six Campuses, Karachi

Jumpstarting™ Spells Success for Struggling Learners - Case Study

Case Study – Bay View High School, Karachi | Academic Year 2024–2025

This implementation was based on the Jumpstarting™ Word and Number Skills Process, developed and delivered by Sara Haboubi, an international trainer and learning strategist with over 20 years of experience working with educators across Ireland, the UAE, and beyond.

The beauty of this process is its flexibility—it can be used to help learners of any age, including adults struggling with literacy and numeracy challenges in the workplace.

Overview

Bay View High School, a leading British Curriculum institution with six campuses across Karachi, implemented the Jumpstarting™ Word and Number Skills Process across key year groups from Prep II to Grade VII during the 2024–2025 academic year.

In just one school term, 37 teachers out of 200 were trained in this innovative, neuroscience-informed approach to teaching spelling, reading, and numeracy. What followed was a noticeable transformation in learner outcomes, teacher confidence, and overall classroom engagement—making a compelling case for schools seeking both measurable results and long-term return on investment.

Why Bay View Chose Jumpstarting™

Despite strong academic frameworks, many students were showing signs of difficulty with literacy and numeracy foundations—particularly in spelling, reading fluency, number reversals, and general learning confidence. Behavioural disengagement and anxiety around academic tasks were becoming more common.

Jumpstarting™ offered a refreshingly practical and inclusive solution. With multisensory techniques like visual learning, mental imagery, and grounding strategies, it provided classroom-ready tools that worked for all learners, especially those with neurodiverse profiles or hidden learning barriers.

What Changed in Just One Term

Stronger Word Skills

- Spelling accuracy improved by 30–70%

- Reading fluency increased by up to +1 academic year

- Students became more confident, structured, and independent in writing tasks

- Improved Number Skills

- Maths accuracy rose by 50–70%

- Significant drop in number reversals and concept confusion

- Better understanding of time-telling, place value, and problem-solving using mental imagery

Focus and Classroom Engagement

- Over 80% of learners showed higher focus and participation

- Grounding techniques helped reduce classroom anxiety and improve task readiness

- Students demonstrated persistence and initiative in tasks they previously avoided

Positive Home Feedback

- Parents reported smoother homework routines and greater independence

- Children were calmer, more motivated, and often shared what they were learning

- Grounding and visualisation techniques began being used at home voluntarily

Teacher Feedback

“My most avoidant students began participating with confidence.”

“We weren’t just teaching skills—we were unlocking how students process information.”

“It changed the energy in the room. Students were focused and proud of their progress.”

Why This Matters for School Leaders

Jumpstarting™ didn’t require radical change—it enhanced what teachers were already doing. The process fit seamlessly into the school day, yet delivered measurable impact across core skills, wellbeing, and learner identity.

For principals and academic leads, the return on investment is tangible:

•           Higher academic performance in literacy and numeracy

•           More confident, resilient learners

•           Empowered teachers with strategies that work across abilities

•           Positive parent-school engagement

•           Consistent support for students with mild to moderate learning difficulties

•           Long-term cost-effectiveness vs specialist interventions

Next Steps

With proven success at Bay View, schools can now access the Jumpstarting™ process through:

Self-paced online training for educators

Live Q&A webinars and coaching

Optional in-person training and implementation support

Academic success doesn’t start with curriculum—it starts with confidence, clarity, and connection. Jumpstarting™ gives teachers and students the tools to thrive in all three.

What’s most remarkable is that these results came after just one term. If this is what’s possible in a few short months, then the long-term potential is truly extraordinary—for student achievement, teacher impact, and whole-school transformation.
